Linear channel drainage - can this be added to existing drain?

Hi,

Just looking for some advice.

We have a concerete path on the side of our house which you walk to to get to our garden. When heavy rain falls in runs down the path (slight slope) and on to our lawn and makes if even more boggy.

Now was thinking of adding channel/linear drainage to the bottom of this and run it in to the drain which is there for the guttering off our extension.

Now the question is can you tap in to the existing drain that is already there? I took a picture of what the side of the drain looks like. Can this be added to or is something else needed altogether?

It may be cheaper for the drain to go into a soak away. This is what we did for our drive but all our rain water goes into soak aways where we live.
