Hi

I had a brain injury in May and had to approach lenders/mortgage etc to ask for a fee free/0% period as i had no money apart from SSP

the c/card I am talking about agreed month on month basis, i paid the monthly min amount, they have now said that as they have had my hospital and GP letter to confirm my injury /surgery/health etc they will not be requiring the balance (£1300), why would they do this?

puzzled, as I was paying it albeit the minimum ?

    Well I wouldn't be complaining ;)

I would make sure it's in writing and make sure it's not going to be recorded in a negative way on your credit file

Did you have PPI on the credit card - may pay out in the case of an illness?

Which card was this? I think they deserve my business (and I do usually pay my debts).

no PPI that I am aware of, how could I find out?

I never take PPI to my knowledge.

this card was always paid in full and on time till my accident, but no salary and just SSP meant I couldn't pay :-(

    B/card btw ....

I'd be careful that they haven't sold it off to a DCA for a couple of pence in the pound and them have one of those harassing you.

why would they do that, the have said they have written it off, so if that happens what do they gain, I would say debt has been written off so therefore I wouldn't pay.....

check your statements to make sure you are not paying PPI or weren't paying. It'll be on every statement with a n outstanding balance if you were. It does sound likeyou were because it pays out for critical illness which it sounds like you had.

either way, it doesn't matter, you've got it in wiriting they won't be asking you for the balance and you've no need to worry.

And then hit them with a PPI mis-selling claim! :rotfl:
  • I am, of course, joking. Don't do that!
