Patio door company

Recently, I contacted a patio door company for a quote. They told us that they could do the work within 6 weeks. We told them that that was too long and that we would look elsewhere. They then told us that they could do it within 2-3 weeks so we went ahead with the quote. After 5 weeks, we were called with an installation date. On the day of the installation, they called to cancel. A week later we called to tell them that they had not kept their side of the agreement and that our order was cancelled.

We have just received an invoice from them for the full amount, in which it states that the dates are a "guide" and that we have "denied access" and therefore the full amount is payable even though the work has not been done. Clearly this is ****ocks, but could use some advice please.

Thanks in advance.

Did they come and measure up? Have they ordered the doors? Have they been manufactured? What invoice proof is there if this is the case? Who is their supplier? What audit trail, or check, have you run on any order paperwork?

Until you can provide answers to these it is difficult to comment.

As an aside is it one of the notorious national companies, or a local company that may have a reputation to protect?
  • you should sue the patio doors company. At least they shouldn't dish out the same treatment to anyone else. I recently got my sliding patio doors from a firm Window choice. I found it online. They are more than good.
