Mortgage Insurance Advice Needed.

Good Morning Everyone,

I had a query which I hope someone can help with, to cut a long story short my ex-wife has moved from our joint property some time ago and its currently for sale but not selling... I need to arrange insurance as she let this lapse and I need to do this quickly, in the past I had paid a reasonable amount however on checking pricing now its terribly high! Its a thatched property so insurance isn't simple, the previous supplier no longer cover semi detached houses so im desperately seeking an alternative but its not easy.

My question is does anyone know if my mortgage provider will provider a fixed sum to cover the loan in the event of any issues, for example a huge sum of say 300k to cover all events? I seem to re-call when buying the mortgage guy said they would if we had trouble insuring but at the time it wasn't an issue some 8 years back or so.

Thanks in advance

This is buildings insurance we're talking about?

A google search for "buildings insurance thatched house" brings up a number of different options.

So, you want to know if your mortgage provider will provide buildings insurance on your thatched property?

Fixed sum? As in the rebuild cost of the property, or a "blanket" amount, based on the number of bedrooms?

I can only suggest contacting your lender to ask them. Unfortunately, we could only speculate on here that some lenders do and some lenders don't.

Yes this is it, I have contacted Halifax Home Insurance but wondered if they said no as they are just their insurance side rather than a specific mortgage team, will give them a buzz.

    Thanks
