printer trouble

My 3 year old Epson printer/scanner has suddenly had difficulty in printing clearly from the computer. It still copies and scans, but I have tried to print letters from my two different computers and it misses out the tops of many of the lines. The nozzel checks are ok (although I must admit I do not use Epsom inks but have had no trouble with these in the past). The Windows XP printer test page was not good. I would be grateful for any advice before I just go out and buy a new printer.

If its missing lines across the top have you tried adjusting the margins in the office program you are using - seems odd its doing it on 2 different computers but may worth a try.

To be honest, 3 years is along time for most printers - have you considered an upgrade - it may be worth it if you have no luck fixing it?

Are you sure all the print nozzles are ok, sounds to me like the black is clogged, the pages you copied may well come out fine as being a photocopy, the machine may use the colour cartridges only, many printer will only use the black cartridge for actual text documents, a photocopy will not be recognized as a text document.
