Private building control question

Hi,
About 2 months back I've completed a purchase on a house. The vendor recently extended the house and added a loft.
Recently when reviewing the documents sent by the solicitor I noticed that the vendor didn't use the council building control but instead used one of those approved building control/inspector.
That sounds OK however when I look at the council website, there's no such information about my house has a building control certificate for the work that has been done. I can see that there's a planning application but not the associated building control application.
I can also see on the council website that the neighbours have the certificate and was issued later than my certificate.
Should I be worried? Should I contact the council? Or that certificate from the private building control company would do?
Should they (the approved building control company) submit their certificate to the local council?
CH

* that the work was done poorly/by a cowboy and may be dangerous? How will contacting the council help?
* that Building Control might come along and enforce expensive work? Well, ifyou contact them, they might! If you don't, they won't!
Yes, the council should have had a certificate submitted.
It's really a bit late now!0 -
I understand that's a bit late now - that's why I'm a bit worried that something's gone missing on the chain.
But you've answered my question that the council should have the certificate sent from the approved building control inspector.
I'm just wondering if it will do me any good to query this. I'm less worried about the quality of the work because the approved building control inspector should have the same quality/check with the council ones (in theory), and if the pass the building work in the house it's fine.
I'm just worried about technicallity and in the future when I want to sell this house to move on.0
