Folder created everytime I scan an image

Had a little look around and can't find what I'm looking for so wondered if anyone could help. Apologies if this is a duplicate post. Every time I scan a file using Windows 7 and using devices and printers > HP 1400 series > scan, it creates a separate folder with the picture file in it. Is there anyway that I can prevent this from happening? I want the picture saved to the my pictures folder and no additional folder to be created within this folder.

There will be some sort of preferences that set what you want doing each time you scan.Sanctimonious Veggie. GYO-er. Seed Saver. Get in.0

The default on my Canonscan is to place the file on the desktop in a folder with today's date.
You should be able to change the file path in the scanner software settings. No free lunch, and no free laptop
