Aqua reward abroad

Hi,

On holiday and lost my halifax clarity card (now cancelled)
Between us we have a Barclays debit card, natwest debit card and a first direct debit card as well as an aqua reward credit card. It seems the aqua reward credit card will be good when paying on card.
When looking at which card would be best to get cash out from ATM's I got a bit confused as the 39%+ for the aqua credit card even when paid off in full seems quite intimidating.
Would I be correct in thinking that when withdrawing cash one of the 3 debit cards I listed would be better?

Thanks in advance

Tom

Yes, you'll be better off withdrawing from a debit card.

If you can pay off the withdrawal quickly, the APR isn't really a problem. A 36% (say) APR is less than 1% every 10 days.

Aqua have no exchange rate loading, but do have a 3% ATM fee. The other debit cards have 2% ATM fee and 2.75-2.99% loading, but with a minimum of £1.50/£2 on the atm charge. Two of the cards have a £5 maximum ATM fee.

So, even taking 10 days to pay off aqua, that would put aqua at 4%, compared to 4.75%. However, if you can hit the maximum fee in a transaction

However, Barclays charge the 2.99% loading, with no ATM fee, at their ATMs, or those of their partners. So if you can find such an ATM that's the best option. Otherwise Aqua, otherwise any other card:
