Loosing an Email Address?

My Dad is changing over from Tiscali to BT later this week. His email address is with Tiscali, example John.Smith@tiscali.com.

He's had this address for years. When he moves over to BT he'll loose it, is there anyway he can redirect mail from the old address to the new?

He should not use a BT email address, rather get a Gmail one or similar that is not tied to an ISP.
Gmail can be set to import old email, assuming its not cut off as soon as his contract terminates.

As long as you regularly use the Tiscali one it won't be deleted. I haven't been with Tiscali for 3+ years now and have GMX automatically picking up my emails from Tiscali.

depends, so ISPS as soon as you move will close down the account along with emails accounts ( plusnet do this) but some will keep the emails active but reduce the capacity (o2 do this by reducing the capacity from 200mb to 20mb).

It may be worth asking Talk Talk ( they own Tiscali) and see how they do it although my Brother moved from TalkTalk to Sky and his TalkTalk emails stopped
