Do you want to make your invites or are you making them to save money? Ebay have loads of invites cheaper than £2.00 each.

I do want to make them, but not if it ends up costing me loads more than buying them, if you see what I mean!

Budget isn't that strict or anything, but I do love a bargain so want to try and make sure I am not overspending unnecessarily (or at least not on invites - same rules do not apply when it comes to my dress or shoes obviously :D)

Think I am going to give it a go - might buy a couple of samples that I like from ebay and try and work out what I need to make my own version.

I see! Im spending more on the daytime invites, but the evening invites are only costing me 50p each, which i think is a bargain! Plus im rubbish at crafty things, although i am going to tie a ribbon round and have a small flower at the front...so i did a bit myself!
  • I want to make all of my own invites, place cards, table plan and menus. Anyone know where I can get the best deals on packs of card and where I can get the poster board for the table plan? Thanks xx

  • Would love to know how to get cheap invitations, my mum did hers for about €50 for around 80 day invites, she didn't have evening invites and the hotel provided place cards etc..

I'd love to get my invites for 150, evening do and order of service and place cards, all them little extra bits for under €200. I know its tight but hopefully I can do it!

I spent about £120 in total, but I wanted stupidly specific coloured card and also ordered some paper that didn't work at first.

That covered 50 save the datses, 100 invites (50 day, 50 evening) and 50 order of services, 8 table numbers, 4 or 5 little signs etc.

And like I say that was expensive because I was so picky!!

I have started making my willy wonka style golden tickets. Everythng has been bought and I think I've spend about £50ish

    10 sheets Gold paper - £5.00
15 sheets Pearl White paper for wrappers - £5.00
19 chocolate bars - £19.00 (shopped around when they were on offer for a £1)
    postage - £15/16 - i can hand deliver a few.
  • If you can find some templates to personalise online (there are loads for free) it may be that you can contact a local print service to do a bulk run for you when you have teh design finalised and saved. Some friends of ours did this last year and I think it cost them around £35 to have tehm printed on lovely glossy card. This was for about 60 day invites, 60 evening invites and rsvps for the whole lot.
Everyone has a dark side... apparently mine is called Harold?!?
  • Creating your own wedding invitation card is a great idea. The cost of this process depends upon the material and technique you use for creating a card. If you are making a simple card with the usual quote and calligraphy then it would be really cheap. So try and make a simple design rather than complicating it.
