Parking for Blackpool Tower

Afternoon everyone. I'm taking the family to Blackpool on Friday with our Merlin annual passes, so we'll be doing the tower, sealife and maybe the wax works too. Can anyone suggest where's best to park? Looking for cheap as possible and not too far from the attractions, although we don't mind a reasonable walk. I've heard the multi story at Wilko's is quite good value. I've also found a place on parkopedia on South King Street (FY1 4AX) that says £2 per day, but sounds a bit too good to be true.
Thanks in advance

The multi storey on Talbot Rd near Wilko is closed (afaik) as it's getting a facelift.0

I would be really interested to hear or any free or cheap parking. We also don't mind a reasonable walk.0

I think the Wilkos one is actual on top of the shop (I've been on google street view) and the Talbot Road one is on top of the old bus/coach [STRIKE]eyesore[/STRIKE] station. If no-one has any other suggestions I will report back after Friday as to how we got on. All the main Blackpool car parks are £12 for a full 12 hours, I'm hoping Wilko's at £6 (according to the car park website) will be OK.0 -
I'm sure when we went we parked in the car park in Bonny Street. There was market stalls nearby, we were not far from the tower at all, literally turned right out of the car park, then left towards the sea front, right again onto the promenade.
I'm sorry i can't remember how much the parking was, it wasn't a lot as we didn't spend a lot of time there, I hated it but that is another story.0 -
I can recommend this one.

It is on Talbot Rd next to the train station and outside the Apollo Electrical store.
However, there are major road works all round that area of Blackpool at the at the moment, the Bus Station car park is closed as well as Wilkinson because of this.
If you use Sat Nav then be prepared that it will have no idea where to direct you as all the road layouts have changed completely.0 -
I was going to recomend the car park at rigby road as thats the one we always use but I've just discovered that the council have closed it . I'm going in October, and I reckon the next nearest is the Lonsdale car park - has anybody use it and it safe to park overnight - or can anybody recommend a car park in Blackpool near rigby road ?0

Hi
Have look at Bank St which is behind the train station. It's a 10 - 15 minute walk across town to the tower etc but I think it's £2 for 12 hours. It's not the prettiest carpark but I park there everyday because I work in the towncentre & I've never seen any trouble there.

Well we made it to Blackpool on Friday and parked in the Wilkos multistory. There is a lot of building work going on in the area but we had no trouble getting there. At the top of the entrance ramp (and on the exit) it's a bit of a tight squeeze, so if you're not the most confident of driver then you may want to go elsewhere, but we got round fine in our big 7 seater. The car park is quite large and we had no trouble finding a space. It took us less than 10 minutes to walk to the Tower and this is with an 6 and 8 year old in tow so we weren't rushing. The big perk to this car park is that you "pay on foot" once you've done, so you only need to pay for what you've used. As it was we got there a bit later than planned so only paid £3.90 for less than 6 hours. The machines are cash only but will take notes(no cards accepted) and the signs say it closes at 7:30pm. I don't know how prompt they do close up but be careful your car doesn't get locked in if you're staying late. The car park website is here if you want to have a look.
We had a great time in Blackpool, the view from the tower is fab and the glass floor really hits something inside you at a basic level. Even the most confident of people were a little shaky! The kids loved the jungle Jim's which is very clean and well maintained and they even enjoyed watching the ballroom dancing for a while. The circus doesn't open on a Friday, but I'm sure we'll go back sometime to see the show. Sea-life is good, we were round in about 90 minutes, but that was largely down to the kids rushing ahead to stamp their guide books. You could stretch it to 2-3 hours if you took your time. Tussaud's was a lot of fun but only took 90 minutes to get round. Lots of photo opportunities and the wax works were a lot more realistic than I thought they would be. I'm not sure if I would have paid full price for any of the individual attractions, but with our Merlin passes it was a great day out and we'll be going back again soon. There's loads of discounts to be had out there so there's no reason why anyone should pay full whack and if you are paying to get in make sure it's not a Friday so you get to do the circus too.0 -
I found the glass floor a lot less scary than the old small one, maybe the scaffold below masking the legs of the tower made it feel less of a drop.0
