Halifax and Ministry of Justice

I am getting calls from someone saying he is working for the Ministry of Justice and has a cheque for me of £2,500 pounds as long as I pay the tax first.
Anyone had this experience.
He says its for a Halifax account and I only have a savings account with them which I have had for about 5 years.
Any advice appreciated

He's a liar. The HMRC and the MoJ are two totally separate things.
Report them to the Ministry of Justice.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0 -

Tell him not to call again as he is wasting his time as well as yours.
Do not admit to ever having had a Halifax account.
End the call and continue cutting off any such calls.0 -

Thanks for the replies.
I was 99% certain it was not legit as he couldn't give me the name of the minister his department reported to and refused to give me his telephone number. He also called himself Alex Cooper but his accent made it sound more like Alice.

:eek:I have had the same experience today. Did not give out any financial information but did give out my mobile phone number. Could i be scammed or taken advantage of by scammers? Should i change my phone?
