Delivery problem / Food Order

Bit of a complicated one as I'm unsure where my rights stand on this.
Ordered £50 worth of fresh meat from - last week which i chose to have delivered Friday. Friday arrived and unlike orders in the past I received no email saying the order had shipped and no tracking number for the order. I Double checked my deleted and spam emails and nothing was sent.
I sent the company an email at about 10.30 am that morning asking for confirmation that my order had been shipped but received no reply. The time came to around 3pm that afternoon and after waiting in all day I had to run out, only to get home around 4pm to find out delivery was attempted while i Was out.
After sending an email telling - about the missed delivery it was only around 4.30 that i received a reply to this and my first email sent earlier that day.
They told me that they would try and get the package re-delivered Saturday, however after calling UPS saturday morning i was told they dont ever deliver on weekends, so I'm not sure why I was told that.
The order has now arrived today and to no surprise the raw meat absolutely stinks and needs to thrown right out, so thats £50 down the drain. - claim their packaging keeps the meat fresh for up to 72hrs but obvious after the weekend and this heat the ice packs were just warm water.
- told me in cases like this they don't accept any responsibility for the order as delivery was attempted, which I fully understand, however Im unsure as to my rights as no shipping email was sent out and i did contact them regarding this but received no reply until it was too late.
Do I have any rights to a refund or replacement here?
thanks for your help.

You chose to have it delivered on Friday.
It was delivered on Friday.
You weren't there to accept it.
Yes, the company could've tried harder to respond to your questions, but when you are dealing with things that should be happening now, is sending an email, and expecting a reply, the best method of communication?
I know a number of companies that only check emails once or twice a day.
