Tax credits overpayment dispute

So you are saying that after she received her first award notice she contacted them and told them her income for the current year was higher?
Or did she ring up before she got the first award notice?
If it was the first scenario, then you can dispute under COP 26. If the second, then even though she was given wrong advice she should have called again after she received the award notice.
I would suggest you request copies of the phone call recordings so you can support your case.
She can't have done a renewal online - the online facility for tax credits has not been used since 2005.

She received the award notice and phoned them immediately to tell them her income was a lot higher for the current year.0

Are you talking about her renewal for 13-14?
Ie she received her renewal form for this year then rang as it had her income lower?
I'm confused because you say she earns £26,000 in 2011 so this should have been picked up before now.0 -

But did she then receive the same money as before or did it change?
Not being awkward I promise
If the payments didn't change then wasn't she in the least bit suspicious since the change from a small amount of salary to a large salary would have made a big difference.
If the payments were adjusted then she may have a better case to dispute it.0
