Hello all,
Can I warn all people selling on E Bay, Amazon etc to send any item signed for, as a scam is going round in that the buyer says the item has not been received. You could be out of pocket here.I had such an incident happen to me and claimed via Royal mail for a lost parcel as I was not going to refund this buyer without the funds to do so:mad::mad::mad::mad:

Ever thought that they might not have recieved the parcel?
But this is precicely why you should always get proof of postage from royal mail, so that you can claim for a lost parcel in such situations.0 -
proof of postage is not proof of delivery.Ever thought that they might not have recieved the parcel?

you need to either get it sent recorded/registered or use a courier to get a signature0 -

Or maybe the parcel was lost!
There's a sticky postage thread on the eBay board with details of the PayPal requirements for seller protection. However if you are going to spend an additional £1.10 minimum on every single packet sent RM then you are going to run into issues with your stars as you will look expensive compared to other sellers. Also from September you will also be paying eBay an extra 11p FVFs for that additional postage cost.
I send approx 150 -200 items a month at the moment, and have had two lost items since January...just think how much more money that would have cost if I had paid extra for a signature, especially since in many areas a signature is never obtained.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I have bought quite a few items off ebay and never had any problems with the sellers until several weeks back.I ordered 2 canvas belts, not valuable £4.80 for both and on checking next day it said they had been dispatched.Week later still no sign but as not a valuable order I thought just give it time.
After 4 weeks and still no sign I contacted the seller to tell them I had not received the belts and their answer was to email me a tracking number for citilink and tell me they found it "hard to believe I had not received the items" as citilink tracks the delivery to the door.
I was quite willing to accept the loss as it was so little but the attitude from the seller left me thinking they thought I was "trying it on" so I emailed citilink with the tracking number and they replied telling me yes the items were entered on their system on the day they were dispatched but they had subsequently passed them onto royal mail who "did not have tracking on those items at that time"(their words).
I contacted ebay and went through their process of reporting an item not received and eventually was refunded my money as they found the seller did not take adequate steps to ensure delivery.I told ebay at the time I found it pointless to claim you are using a courier with a tracking system then the courier passes it onto royal mail for a normal mail delivery.
I believe the seller in this case was acting in good faith in thinking that citilink was going to be delivering the items but whether or not citilink was trying to save some money by using a proxy in my case it caused ill feeling between the seller and myself.0 -
Yes this is not the seller, it depends on what service they chose with the courier, some couriers do have contracts with Royal Mail to carry out the final delivery to your door.I told ebay at the time I found it pointless to claim you are using a courier with a tracking system then the courier passes it onto royal mail for a normal mail delivery.
