When do I need signature confirmation?

I am reading through the Seller Protection FAQs so I can avoid making a mistake when sending someone an item.(pages.ebay.co.uk/help/seller-protection-faq.html)

I noticed that in amongst the explanation for the eBay dispute process it says "For items valued over £150, we also require signature confirmation.".

Is this the only case when signature confirmation is required and does eBay act on this during a dispute?
And if the buyer's address is a PO box then does this imply that I can't send them an item over £150 whilst being covered by the Seller Protection?

The sticky postage thread explains seller protection with regards to postage. I'm not sure how it works with a PO box though.

It is safest to get a signature of sales of £150 or more. Either Paypal or Ebay has dropped it from their T&C but it is still in their help pages ( can't recall which one it was, but one of them still has it). So to be absolutely sure, get one.

You cannot get a signature for a PO box afaik.
  • I found that on the buyer protection FAQ it says here clearly that for items greater than £150 a signature is required. Would be nice if they stated this explicitly in the seller FAQ.

    pages.ebay.co.uk/help/buyer-protection-faq.html#What is proof of delivery?

Yes, there are many ambiguous statements when comparing their T&C, policy and help pages. So if you are ever in doubt, go with the one which offers the 'belt and braces'. But do bear in mind that buyer protection is not the same as seller protection, most of it overlaps but there are differences.

Are you sending in the UK? Has the item already sold? You can exclude PO boxes.
