The Watch Hut have conned me

Can anyone help? I feel like I've been massively conned. I bought a watch for my son via Amazon at The Watch Hut. It seemed fine but after two weeks it stopped working. We tried to alter the time using the side winder and it fell apart. The company asked me to return it recorded delivery, saying they'd refund the postage and replace the item. Then I got a curt message saying they would not return the item as it was damaged! I went back and said the stuff about Sale of Goods Act etc and they have posted pics of a very bashed up watch, which was not the one I sent them, saying it is an old watch on a new strap - but when I returned the item, the only damage was to the winder. I feel really conned as they have got me to send back the watch and they're posting pics of some old bashed up thing which was not what I sent them. My son's in bits and I can't afford to have lost all this money on this piece of rubbish. I didn't think to take pics of it before I sent it back (duh). Is there anything at all I can do or have I been well and truly conned here?
Any advice gratefully received.

How much was the watch?
It seems like a 'your word against theirs' right now however it could have been damaged in transit?RoyalMail wrote:Royal Mail Signed For items are covered against loss or damage up to the sum of £50 or the value of the item, whichever is lower.

IMO you should write a reasonable letter asking for a refund in full and noting that the photos are not your watch and that perhaps they have wrongly associated it with your order.
If you are absolutely sure that they have sent the wrong photo and refuse to remedy it, I'll alert Trading Standards via the Citizen's Advice Guide web-site.
Then I would consider writing a final letter before action again stating what has happened in factual and reasonable terms. And then take them to the small claims court. Others might advise against this based on their experience, but I'd suspect that the judge would decide with you (but there are no guarantees of that) as it is on balance of probabilities.
If they don't respond then I'd personally go to the Small Claims Court.0 -

Did you take a photo of the damage before sending?Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
Did you take a photo of the damage before sending? The OP has already said they didn't take photos.
When all the information is in one block of text and not separated into paragraphs it's hard for people to pick out pertinent points.
OP have you contacted Amazon?Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily Dickinson
