wrong look at many of their sites footers they tell who designed and hosts the site.
yes their internal IT departments will have the control over the sites just like if you had a site designed and given cpanel access. But if you look deeper into the design company they will be linked to major advertising agencies or even owned by the store group, but not inhouse
