Might be worth the police finger printing the ladder in case he did not have gloves on.

Unlikely to happen where no crime has actually been committed however!

    Trespass? :D

    But i get your point.

On the other hand there may have been a spate of burglaries of this nature and could give the cops a break. Don't know. Just a thought.

Ladder, next to window, finger prints match an ex-con.......GOING EQUIPED is worth a year inside for anyone with previous.

It's a crime to carry the equipment if there is evidence that there was intention.

Lets hope the OP reports it and lets as many people in the local area know as possible....hopefully she has prevented at least one posiible break in this afternoon....

A good warning to others to keep windows shut when out especially when out never goes a miss!

Thanks OP for reminding us all that crime is all around us,and its never wrong to question someone if it looks like the're up to no good!

    Definitely report.

If this happens to anyone else and phone has a camera try and get a discrete photo. Discrete is key.....don't get attacked over this. Try and note where they head to in case you see a vehicle and get details if you do.

In at least one recent local case a photo taken on a phone of the men leaving the property (back view) was enough for the local coppers to identify one of the candidates; both got 2 years plus for attempted burglary (not the first offence).

Sounds like you got back just in time! Was your window open?

No, all windows and doors closed and locked plus the house alarm was on.

Definitely report this to the police, for the sake of yourself and your neighbours.

Also, maybe think about putting a dummy CCTV camera on your property too now, if he did have thoughts about coming back (presuming he's a burglar) it would act as a deterrent.

I just found out from my neighbour that the ladders used were his. The man broke into his shed and took them, so we're not sure how many houses he went to.
