HSBC - claiming on an old account with no PPI paperwork

Hello
I am new to the forum so I apologise if this has been answered elsewhere.
In 2001 when I was 18, I got a loan with HSBC. I was on probabation with my employer as had started a new job, which I am told makes PPI invalid?
I wrote to HSBC recently to claim against that, and ask if I had any other policies. They asked me to go to a branch and update my address details, which I did. The man I spoke to there told me there were three policies showing - one for a loan, one for a credit card, and one for additional loan protection. I have no paperwork for any, but was told by a call centre operator when I called HSBC that night (to see if they might have more details) that if the policies appear on my record, the paperwork should exist.
After my essay lol, I'm trying to find out if anybody else has had success with HSBC on old loans without any paperwork?
Thanks
Jemma

No, it does not make it invalid. It only meant that you could not make a claim on the policy for unemployment until your probation finished. There is nothing wrong with starting a policy whilst on probation as unemployment cover is not normally available in the first 3-6 months of a new policy anyway. By which time, probation would normally have ended.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only.
