Problem moving a Lloyds TSB account to the new TSB

I got their letters, phoned the number and was hung up on, then the next call i made they said they are transferring me to a colleage and sent my call back to main menu, so i asked the bank if i can set up the new account from the bank itself.
Went to the appointment, and trying to transfer my account to TSB failed, the assistant said it must be due to my credit history and advised i set up a post office account instead.
Now, i am not sure i should have my account closed just because they can't transfer it to their new bank, i would like some advice on this matter as i can't find anything online and going through the nightmare that is Lloyds TSB customer services is just not working.
What else can i do or who can i complain to or ask about this transfer??

Any account already open will be automatically transferred. However, any attempt to open a new account will be subject to their new account procedures.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
