Barclaycard PPI Tracing Team

I received a letter from the above and had called them. They had traced me to my current address and said i had PPI on a credit card i had, which i closed in 2005. They said they would send me another letter to see if i had a claim. Ive not received the letter so decided to call Barclaycard myself about it but they said i didnt have PPI but to send a letter anyway and gave me an address. Im a bit confused as to why they would bother to trace me if i didnt have PPI??

Any thoughts on what to do?

You need the account number to complain and if you don't have that, you send them a SAR and £10 to see what documentation is left. If you had PPI it would have shown on every statement with an outstanding balance.

You can have PPI on an account but never pay any PPI. For example, if you clear your balance each month you would not have paid PPI. However, the account will show you had it. Sometimes the terminology between these two points can get merged.

Did you borrow on the card or clear it each month?

No, i didnt clear the balance every month, it was quite a high balance on it, thats why i got rid of it when i sold my house. I opened it in 1999 and closed it 2005. I do remember there being an annual fee but it was so long ago now i cant remember PPI. Just confused as to why bother tracing me if Ive never had PPI...

Barclaycard only keep a running 6 years of statements on file. Maybe that is the issue. They have the raw account data. They just don't have the statements any more showing you paid it. Do you have statements on file?

No, i dont have anything. Everything got shredded. Suppose I'll have to wait and see if I get a further letter.

Just enquiring if you heard anything else from Barclaycard PPI tracing team?

I'm in the same position as you (I cut up my card years ago)
I got a letter through last month and sent it off. Not head a thing back.

Think i was paying PPI when I was paying off the card while unemployed.
