halifax fraud department mess up

I got an automated call on Friday to tell me there was suspicious activity on my account... I went through to the fraud department who told me there was 38 transactions to a foreign website thingy.... I informed them it wasn't me and they said once the transaction came out I would be refunded and they would give me a new card.

The previous week I had a card replaced as I lost it... the card in question. I asked them did they cancel the card as I had a replacement they said yes.

I have been called again today this time they don't know what department called me on Friday... but there is more fraud on my account 110 transactions at £6.97 each... was ie me. No.... same company as before.

Turns out that when I got may card replaced some weeks ago they never cancelled it.

I was on the phone for an hour last Friday at work.... currently on hold now waiting for the complaints team and this has been an hour and a half process.

I am now without a card again... and 800+ out of my account. the irony is I just had £15 account payment taken out by Halifax for the reward account.

They have just offered me ££25 compensation. ... now im not normally greedy but I got told at work for being a hour on the phone, we were about to go out today but ive been on the phone and still on the phone for an hour and a half, im my account is in a right state im not sure whats in/ whats gone out etc?

So is it worth £25 ? I miffed as they have had 3 chances to do the job right and still cant.

how much would you expect ?

I'd say the inconvenience of that is probably worth a bit more. £50 likely, £100 at the most.

The most important thing is that they refund you.

Get the refund sorted first , ensure that cards are sorted out correctly .
I would agree that the level of hassle you have had is worth more than £25 - I got £75 for a mortgage complaint that involved an incorrect letter and then failure of a call centre worker to log a complaint when I originally asked.
Get your account sorted and then dig your heels in about the complaint.

It would not matter if the card was cancelled or not.
A transaction of £6.97 is probably under an amount needing authorisation.
    Take the compensation IMO.
