Letters regarding changing my Elec meter

I bet if they said they wanted to replace it because it was running fast you would soon let them replace it and make it accessible as well.
Since my meter was replaced I use 2 kWh less electricity a week, according to my spreadsheet and my daily readings.0 -
I hear this problem all day, whenever meters are originally installed in the corners of kitchens, usually gas meters, when changeover time comes they are hard to get at by the meter fitters. Originally the meters would ve been easy to access, but of course modern kitchen units have been tightly built around them. The meters were there first , the units were added around it, so the units have to be taken apart and its the householders responsible to shift it. I see a lot of gas/electric meters where its obvious that the meter fitters could have got to them with a little bit of extra effort but they prefer to just leave it for the next guy to have a try, passing the buck if you like. Maybe they are on bonus and cant be bothered to faff around, or maybe a "super " fitter, an expert in awkward meters will be sent to do it. OP, you also need to find out if its going to be a "smart meter " or you will face the same problem again in a couple of years when all the suppliers start the roll out. Bg are well into their programme but even now they are still replacing meters with non smarts only to be changed shortly after with smarts0

Meter plus are not fitting smart at the momentDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0

Someone we know in the next road, lives in the same sort of house as us and their Electricity meter is in exactly the same corner of the kitchen with cupboards round it. I know when we 1st got the letters, they got the same ones as well and got the same response that the engineer couldn't do it, so we're not the only ones!
OK, but that's not a defence. You bought the house like that 'as seen', so now as the legal owner, it's still your responsibility to pay any extra costs involved if they insist on a meter change.
You didn't cause the problem, and I didn't mean to imply that you had. But nevertheless it is now your problem to deal with.No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
Ok thanks for your responses. I am going to sign off from this thread now. I will wait for meter plus to contact us again and go from there. But in the meantime, I have other things on the go.Striving to clear the mortgage before it finishes in Dec 2028 - amount currently owed - £26,322.670
