Going back to work after esa/dla

my husband an myself were both very ill last year and are on ESA and DLA, now my husband may have a chance of getting back into work, is the ESA and DLA paid in arrears and also would I still get esa even though my husband will be working or just my DLA. Confusing.

    https://www.gov.uk/return-to-work-credit - may be relevant.
    Both are paid in arrears.
If you are getting contribution-based ESA - and you are either in the support group, or are in the first year of the work-related group - you would continue to get ESA. (This would probably be the case if you were employed in 10/11 11/12)
Otherwise - your income-based ESA would be reduced by your husbands earnings - after a £20 disregard, so in most cases you won't get it.
If your health has changed - you need to notify them.

Her Income Based ESA would have no £20 disregard of her husbands earnings. It would all be deducted in full.

You need to find out if you have an entitlement on your ESA claim to ESA Contributions Based. and what group you are in WRAG or SG, if in WRAG what your exhaustion date is.

If you have no ESA C entitlement then (assuming you do actually have a claim for ESA in your name) your husbands earnings will be deducted.

ESA & DLA are paid in arrears. Your DLA is unaffected by his employment.
