Hi! Problems with windows live mail?

Firstly, please forgive me ...... getting on in years and not awfully good with computers, am fine when everything is working ok but when a problem starts I am totally befuddled :o

I have a wee samsung notebook with windows live mail. Up to yesterday all was fine, then noticed no emails coming through. Clicked on sync and kept getting message that I wasn't on line (even though I was) and would I like to work on line.

Even though I was, I clicked yes to work on line and nothing, no email downloads. (Thankfully have an old lappy that I have fired up and is thankfully download emails in outlook.)

If this makes sense, when I click on windows live, I get a wee icon telling me I'm not on line? Only happens with live mail - am still able to access internet!

Any help much appreciated - not sure why this is happening?

Thank you in anticipation. xx Alf xx

  • Hi AlfieBlue I ran a computer consulting company a couple of years ago, and I must report to you that you will continually get problems with live mail!!

They can always be fixed by googling the error code.

But really, they are relentless. You should try Thunderbird - its much more resillient. It's also free (opensource) like live mail is free. The other alternative (if problems keep cropping up) is to upgrade to Outlook which is very powerful and resilient.

    Good luck!

This also happens if you have ticked for your password to expire after so many days.

Outlook.com has problems with Internet Explorer 8. Won't load the pages. Blank pages, page not found.
I seen it three times now. All with XP.
Downloaded Google Chrome and it worked fine.

There's a certain irony in that Microsoft want to move to their latest version of stuff, but won't let you unless you buy a new operating system.. (IE9/10)
So they're losing customers to other competitors which allow the latest versions of their browsers to work with XP.
Another monumental bit of stupidity from Microsoft.
  • Hey Chunter Windows Live Mail is the desktop app.

But gosh darn it you're right on Microsoft being a crude hammer of frustrating decisions for the end-user.

and on the other side we have apple who are just d*^ks.

Bring on the rise of linux or some other replacement OS
