Blocked buyer found way to buy

Woke up today to find a couple of questions from a buyer in Australia asking to be exempted as they have 2 unpaid strikes.
The item was bought a short time later, blatantly by the same person.
Not much I can do I suppose! This must happen quite often!

You need to check that your site preferences have actually been set to block buyers with non-paying strikes. Make sure it is set for 2 strikes in the last 12 months.

It is worth checking your preference from time to time as e-bay's constant fiddling with the site by the worst IT department in the world can sometimes alter what you intended to set up.

Thanks, yes my settings are ok though, I checked recently...
The buyer used friend or partners account to buy.
It is very obvious as the buyer who first contacted me has a user name a bit like 'tophat12' and the person who has bought and paid for the item is a different ebay id but email address is something like tophat12@xxx.com

In future add email addresses to the BBL rather than user id's.

Ring CS re this buyer circumventing your blocks.

I would not send this item as chances are it may end in an INR claim.

I didn't know you could add emails instead or as well as user i.d.'s - that's a great tip!
I have nothing against this buyer, apparently he has over 900 + feedback on the i.d. which has 2 strikes, I don't want to risk any retaliation by reporting him!

What retaliation would you get that he hasn't already done?

It is against policy to get around someone's blocks. As you can say it is the same email/paypal address then it's a clear cut case.

Ring CS, explain and null the sale. They will take action.

I once blocked someone who kept asking for a discount.
That buyer got her friend/relative to buy the item and they trashed my stars.

Blocking emails is useless as it takes mere minutes to get a new email address from google, yahoo or similar.

It isn't useless. A determined person will go to those lengths, most wouldn't.

It's like saying don't lock your car because a thief will just break the window.

At the end of the day if you can link the person by email/address or some means via Ebay, then your stars and feedback will be protected as the buyer has breached policy.

You have to protect yourself, but you can only do it as much as is possible.
