there have been so many times when I advised young drivers to disclose anything and everything. For the sake of £30 admin fee to cover their car with alloys they will invalidate their warranty.

Just hope they don't decide to sue you too. There was a guy who posted about his friend, the friend had tints and did not disclose them - got into a dangerous collision in snow. Hit a car with 4 people inside, 4 people claimed wiplash and the costs mounted considerably higher.

Insureance paid out to third party but the cost was astronomical, so insurance company took the guy to cook and sued him for whatever they could get.

I think the guy had to go bankrupt for it.

Many Insurers would decline to offer cover for up changing to alloys rather than charge £30 admin.

Your anecdote would seem to prove this

im not sure how many insurers would refuse this, even the most anal insurers like Admiral group will cover for most costmetic mods. they'll refuse cover for stuff like engine swaps/ugrades and power related upgrades like racing exhausts and turbo installs.

The majority of Insurers would decline, Admiral are not an "anal" Insurer. their business model is more akin to Ryan Air. They're a relatively new Insurer who've reaped the benefits of computers and charge for whatever they can get away with whereas generally Insurers would decline modified cars.

The example you gave of the tinted windows proves my point, they've non disclosed the modification. I assume this was not intentional however the Insurers have shown they would not accept tinted windows by declining the claim which they would not have done had they accepted business from customers with tinted windows.
