Rail vouchers

Options
Hi,

My mum has been given some train vouchers for a bad journey she had, they have been issued by Crosscountry, just wondered if they are valid for Great Western journeys?

Thanks in advance!!

  • Assuming it's the normal "Rail Travel Voucher" then yes they can be used as payment towards any ticket at any ticket office. Some TOCs (I think East Coast, and First Great Western) will also accept them via telesales bookings.

I had one issued by Crosscountry and used it to pay for a journey with East Mids Trains with no problems so I'm guessing yes.

Yes you can use them on any train company that accepts them - it says so on the back
  • I work for the railway, and you can use a Rail Travel Voucher on any network in the UK (unless it has a restriction stated on the back). It only has the name of a certain train operating company on the front, because that's the company that issued the voucher.

Is there any way of using them to book tickets online, ie with red spotted hanky, trainline etc ?

( Have some that were issued by cross-country for a delayed journey )

They can usually only be used at a ticket office, annoyingly!

Not totally true, Virgin Trains Telephone sales 08719 774 222 also accept rail vouchers when booking tickets.
