O/S Daily Sunday 04 August

O/S Daily Saturday 3rd August 2013 This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

  • Good morning everyone :)

Welcome back halight - I hope you had a great holiday?

The sun has just come out so am going to risk a local car boot sale. I don't want to waste fuel driving to the usual one, in case no-one is there, and the local one starts later too. Will report back later if I find anything good.

Well wishes to all sick people and pets and hugs for anyone who needs or just wants them. Keep well and safe and have a super day :)

    Morning all:j:j

Warm and Sunny here, But I belive that storm's are On the way Later today here.

    Have you missed me ????

Iv been away for the last 8 day's at my Mums and Dads caravan.
Its only 15 miles away but it feels like a different world down there,

Had lots of day trips out with the Girls and a good time was had by all.:j:j

    Today,
We have some food shopping to do. Also there's lots of washing to do too.
The girls are off to my wife's Mums and Dad's after they have been to church this morning.

Another of of this years chicks has started to lay while I was away. so that's two out of the four chicks laying that we had this year.

Quite a bit of garden work to be done, I will have to have a look at that this week and see what I can get done. But I will need to work around the weather.

No meal plans for today yet as there is very little In.

I hope that you all have been keeping well,
    Enjoy your day everyone :j:j

    Morning everyone

Hugs to all those that are feeling sad/poorly x

Cloudy but sun trying to break through here this morning.

Dinner last night was a bit of a late one, but was delicious prawns in black bean sauce, chicken in kung po sauce, noodles, egg fried and vegetable rice with accompaniments and prawn crackers, strawberries, meringues and cream for those that had room.

I am very pleased with the jobs that we achieved. The car we tow the caravan with has now got a new electrical plug on the back which is the proper fitting for our new to us caravan - we've been having to use an adaptor which is not ideal - but our good friends went and bought the stuff and fitted it yesterday afternoon after they had done some electrical work changing over the adaptors on the new to us caravan so our solar panel will work too. So now all that we need to do today is unpack the bags that we've already taken to the caravan and take the remaining items - then the caravan will be good to go when we're ready.

Lunch today will be hot roast chicken, new potatoes, salad and pasta salad/coleslaw etc - want to start getting everything in the fridge used up so I don't throw anything away at the end of the week before we go on hols - there may be a few strange combinations!

Going to take it steady again today but will potter along and the jobs do get done, just not very quickly - I find the heat ok, as long as I'm on my hols and can do everything at a slower pace!

Take care if you're out in the sun and remember the sun cream x

    Keep safe and well x

It's raining here and I have forgotten where I put my mac - silly I know but it's weeks and weeks since I last needed it.
Chapel soon, then some sorting out and a run in the car today. I've done the side edging strips on the quilt, so I'll do the top today then I can sort out the thin fleece wadding and the back through the week. I want to take it to DD next weekend as it's filled up the cupboard too long.
Must get a wiggle on as the rain isn't easing!

Hugs all round if wanted X

    Mornning all,

Terrible night's sleep last night I was awake and reading my book until 3.30 and my arms and legs were all restless, my own fault as we went out to look for wallpaper yesterday and I had a coffee in John Lewis late in the afternoon, I normally have decaf but find that I can sometimes get away with a regular if its early enough, lesson learnt ! never again !

Need to drop dd at work thin morning and then onto the local animal sanctuary boot sale, its only a tiny one but generally very good.

Dinner tonight is spag bol, I have the wm on the go with our bedding, so need to remake that.

Want to get OH to help me pull the wardrobes out later on, I have stripped that paint from all of the walls but cant get to that bit.

Went to Lidl yesterday, that had a great sale on, I got 2 bird feeders 50p each, a pair or telescopic loppers £5 and a new set of car matts £5, OH bought himself about 12 pairs of socks for £5 they are good walking / thermal ones, which he needs in the winter, worth a look :T

    Have good days all xx
  • Good morning all,
Sunny here again. Washing is out.
halight, glad you all had a good time.
No real plans today. Hubby is at work and the dd's will be off to work later. It will just leave me and jasper, so we will probably go for a walk.
Tea tonight is something i pulled out of the freezer. I think it is beef in gravy but on the other hand it could be pork. Don't really want to venture out to the shops as i would have to take the car so we will have to make do.
I hope everyone has a good day and hugs to those who need them.

Morning all... You can tell it's the hols as I have time to type and not just lurk!

The clutter in the house is getting me stressed and I want my two to tidy their own things but when I check how they are doing I often find them just playing a game to check all the pieces are there. Grrrr! So last night when a friend called I let them go out, and with wine glass in tow started...

Today we have a couple of hours and all the surface stuff will be done. We can then start what I call the deep clean which all going thru the pen/pencil drawer etc to throw out the duffs.

Think I've just got dd2's school shoes, book bag and jumper to get and dd1's jumper, bag and skirt and then with some new socks ( dependant on how others are) I'm thru. We're away the last week so I want to get it done ASAP so can tick off my list.

Off to put the washing out now... Determined to be productive today as lost mojo mid week.
Don’t put it down - put it away!

Good morning, and another nice day seems to be on the cards.

We have loads of dwarf beans to pick this morning, so we'll have a large pile on our plates for dinner.

Apart from that I'll be doing the ironing and hopefully relaxing in the garden.

I met DH 34 years ago today, so we'll probably open a bottle of wine with lunch as a small celebration.

    Have a good day

  • Lovely to see you back halight, we DID miss our little toy boy ;) :rotfl::rotfl:Lovely to hear that you had a good holiday.

DH has just gone back down to his Dad's to finish what they started yesterday. I have a few bits of washing to do but not much but as the forecast is for rain all day tomorrow I would rather get it done and out of the way.

I want to have a potter in the garden and I must pick some salad bits for dinner. Blooming white butterflies have decimated my cabbages , so I need to plant some more out and the kale needs to go into the ground for the winter .

Thanks for the heads up on Lidl Ruby, but our nearest one is 9 miles away and not in a good area :(
