Bungalow extension / conservatory inspiration required

So the family home was purchased 20 odd years ago, its a bungalow, with a dodgy extension, which now hasn't been used for about 5 years. Its rife with damp, some times the roof leaks, and its time for it to come down. (we have had many people over the years look at it, but none of them know whats wrong or have been able to fix it, so its defo time to go)

We are thinking of replacing it with either another, but modern extension or a conservatory, however having never undertaken this type of work before I am asking you guys for inspiration, photos and costs.

As a guesstimate the current room is about lets say 14' x 12'. Now we are happy to down size this, I reckon we could budget up to £15k.

Has anyone undertaken any extension / conservatory projects and is willing to share the pictures / experience and costs with me? My partner has no vision what so ever so any help would be great. We would have to get someone in to build it as we have no diy skills what so ever.

If anyone is willing to offer advice that would be great.
(p.s I tried a search to find a similar post, but couldn't find one, if there is one feel free to point me in the right direction.)
Debt free since July 2013! Woo hoo! The bank actually laughed when I said I have come in to cancel my overdraft.

Without knowing the style of your existing property it shad to give too many specific ideas.

What will the extension be used for? Kitchen extension, summer room, dining room?

If you are doing an extension in traditional construction then you should base your estimate on approx. £1250/m2 for a fully finished extension. If you are looking for a glazed summer room or orangery then this may be nearer £1500/m2.

Personally I like the idea of a glazed summer room (not conservatory) but again it depends on future use.

There lies the issue I have, the size for a conservatory addition is well acheivable, but only by self build.

I can give costs for a 6mtr x 4mtr free standing cons but it was self build, well, more or less.

The suppliers of the kit were 1st class, I won't post unless you need their details.

    £7k covered it.

    PS,
I only went that way as a conservatory was too difficult to attach to the bungalow.
I a previous property we went the "sun room, or breakfast room" as I called it, that route is likely to add more residual value.
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed

The bungalow is currently 2 bed with dining room, however we would be losing the 2nd bedroom, when we knock down the dodgy extension to replace it with something else. So basically the new room would come off the existing dining room at the back of the house. The back of the house currently has, 1 bed room, 1 dining room, extension hall way to dodgy extension.

This is a forever home, so not worried about re-sale, just want something practical for our own needs. probably mostly be storage. (didnt think a container in the garden would look so pretty!)
