Argh - Twitter followers who keep "unfollowing" and then "following" again!

Options
Okay, so this isn't comping related, but I have one follower who keeps following me, then unfollowing me, only to follow me again!

At first I thought that it was just a glitch, but this has happened by the same person upwards of ten times, and it's really starting to get annoying. I don't follow them as my account is purely for competitions and they're not part of a company that I've entered a competition with so I'm wondering if it's their way of trying to get me to follow them back.

Does anyone else get this? :o

  • I have noticed that my twitter account seems to sometimes 'unfollow' companies & I haven't asked it to stop following them & so I've had to follow them again. Maybe the same thing could be happening to the person who keeps following & unfollowing you? Or maybe they are just really poor at decision making & can't decide if they want to follow you or not! :)

I cannot honestly say that I have taken a blind bit of notice of who follows me and who unfollows me.

I get this usually with companies.

After they follow then unfollow me a few times - I block them.

I don't usually but I get email notifications when people follow and unfollow me and so I get notifications that this person keeps doing it.

    Thank you everyone.

On my non-comping Twitter account I've had that happen a few times, but they have been people who I would not have followed anyway- they are just basically trying to get follows from people who will automatically follow back so they can boost their numbers...

I have a comping friend who does this.

The reason is because when she hits the limit, she unfollows comping friends first and then follows the company. After she's cleansed her follow list some more, she then follows friends again until the next time she hits the limit.

Maybe that's what is happening with you?

How do you get an email when someone "unfollows" you?

I have just checked all my settings and I have all notifications ticked ie mentions, when someone follows me etc however I cannot see an option on there for when someone unfollows you?

    Thanks

I don't think so. This person has over 33,000 followers and is an author. I don't follow them because their writing style isn't really my thing.

Hey sugarbabe. You don't get an emaiil when someone unfollows you, but I keep getting an email that this person has started following me, which means that they have to unfollow me to do that. I hope that helps. :)

I noticed exactly the same thing yesterday as I got a notification that this person was following me again - maybe he just really want us to follow him LM :rotfl:

my sister-in-law has actually had her twitter account suspended for this exact reason (aggressive following) but she'd only been using that account for a week (as shes only just started comping) and hadn't been (intentionally) repeatedly following any one person so we put it down to some kind of virus or hacker or something along those lines and she just set up a new a/c...maybe this is the same- maybe you could send her a message as it would be a shame for her to lose 33k followers if her a/c gets suspended due to some stupid hacker!
