I ordered a new car to be delivered sometime in September (still waiting for a date) on a 63 reg total cost £12400

I paid a deposit of £500 on my credit card and received an order form signed it and returned.

I now see on there website the car has increased in price by £2000 can I be forced to pay the extra, and if I refuse will I lose my deposit.

any thoughts please.

I think you'll be fine, at worst they would have to at least give you your deposit back as they 'moved the goalposts', not you.
And that my son, is how to waft a towel!
  • You did the deal at 12400 and have it in writing don't you?

If you've signed the contract that's the price you'll pay.

I believe the advice given above is correct, so I wouldn't be worrying about it.

£2000 is a pretty hefty price hike for a car at this price point though, are you sure it's the same spec? If it is I think you should be feeling pleased with yourself for ordering when you did :). The increased price will likely act to reduce your depreciation losses too.

So they haven't actually asked for more money?

It's likely demand has been high so they've upped to price for future sales on this model?

There's no reason why they should ask you to pay extra. You've signed the contract for the car at £12400.

When I bought a car last year, the basic list price went up £500 shortly after I'd ordered and paid the deposit for it - the price I paid was what I had agreed to originally.
