Equifax problems - help!

I applied for a mobile phone contract and got rejected. I was quite surprised as I ordered an Experian credit report last year and my credit rating was listed as 'very good'. I've done all the things to improve my score such as registered on the electoral role, closed accounts that I don't use anymore and not applied for credit very often. I've never missed a payment of anything as I have direct debit. Anyhoo...
I checked the mobile provider and found out that they use Equifax. I've tried to set up an account on Equifax to check what information they have (and also tried to order the statutory report) but I'm stuck in a weird catch 22 situation where the security questions asked are wrong (i.e. it keeps on asking who my mortgage provider is, but I don't have one) but because I'm not selecting what they think are the 'right' answers it won't let me set up an account or check my credit report!
Does anyone have any suggestions? I've searched online and can't find a contact number or an email address for them. There's an 'ask a question' section but you have to be registered to do this! Agh!
Any help would be much appreciated
