Why is the option to Activate a New Card always on my HSBC online banking?

Hi,
Everytime I log in to my online banking, next to my current account there is always the option to 'activate a new card'- which I don't understand.
Does everyone have it or am I alone in this?
Thanks

It's so that when you get a new card you can activate it easily.0

I had to move to another bank as I couldn't afford to travel abroad every time I logged on.0

It is the same with other banks too.
From a programming perspective it is probably considered easier to have the link always present than have a piece of code which only causes the link to present itself if a new card has been issued in the last X days. It could be that this would be difficult to code or would be resource hungry.0
