Appliance recommendations Bosch/Neff/Siemens

I need to buy an induction hob, built in double oven and island extractor fan. In an ideal world I would buy Miele, but I don't think the budget can stretch to it!

I would still like to stick with German makes though. I'm a bit overwhelmed by the choice and wonder if there is much difference between the different options? Any tips on where to start or look? I have seen people recommend their local Euronics dealership so may look there as well. Other than that we live quite rurally and so the internet is a better option for us.

I bought a Bosch double oven from Euronics a year ago and I am happy with it. I had originally seen it in JL but Euronics offered a slightly lower price. I have HBM13B2.1B
    I can't comment on the other products/brands

Check out appliances online, we were very happy with their service and prices. Now rebranded to ao.com. Always worth doing the usual price checking and comparison against other sites once you have identified the model you want google the model number and see who is cheapest.

As you probably know Bosch/Neff/Siemens are all the same kit underneath a different skin - the differences are superficial. We went with Siemens stuff and have been very happy with it, although the dishwasher did break but they fixed it under warranty (free 5 year) for nothing.

Yes thanks Blue I was aware they were the same company as you say, I just can't seem to figure out which is the best models for us. I've been told Siemens is the best of the three but I'm not sure what the actual differences are? It is difficult! I just want to buy the best double oven/hob I can afford and I'm a bit confused by what the different models offer.

Perhaps I should just sell a kidney and buy Miele!

We found there were very few differences between the three. To me it seems Bosch has a lot more of the lower end appliances than the other two (their basic washing machines and dishwashers are very popular and good value), Neff tends to be a bit "stylish" and Siemens seems to aim to be the more "high end" brand.

You'll find appliances that are identical between the 3 brands except for normally the control panel/buttons/display on the front. In the end I felt the Siemens stuff looked nicer and had better spec for the money as well as better/longer warranty but that was just for the specific items we wanted.

Do shop around online - we got really lucky with the dishwasher and got a £600 machine for about £270 from John Lewis - they had it on offer, free 5 year warranty, and £100 off for recycling any old dishwasher! It was a fluke and I've not seen as good a deal since but I'm sure they exist!

Bosch tends to do the lower spec product, Siemens the highest spec and Neff is somewhere in between. They are fundamentally the same so go with what suits your budget and style best.

Speak to a local kitchen specialist or appliance retailer and they will provide you with advise and help selecting the best appliances for you and should be competitive as well. You will be supporting a local business.

Buy from some faceless national company and you'll probably be wondering next year why the high street looks derelict.

Get yourself a which? subscription (£1 for the first month, easy to cancel if you want). They're the only good source of independent tests I've ever seen. I found it very helpful for choosing a replacement washing machine and fridge freezer recently.

I always thought Neff was the cheaper badge, followed by Bosch then Siemens.

I've been told Bosch, Neff then Siemens too. I do agree about local retailers and wanted to go with one for the actual kitchen but the one I tried was awful, and kept trying to make me get their hotpoint integrated appliances rather than use my (miele) stand alone appliances which put me off. There's a euronics supplier about 30 mins away so I will try them too.

    Hi

In that case then go to a local independent kitchen specialist that does Neff and / or Siemens appliances, you will find them listed on the dealer search section of the Neff and Siemens websites.

To be honest if a local kitchen specialist is trying to push Hotpoint then I would walk away, especially if they know you have other appliances that are Miele!

A decent independent kitchen specialist will have proper displays with working appliances, so for example, would be able to demonstrate an induction hob or steam oven to you.

Yes I did walk away, I thought it said a lot about their knowledge and put me right off their product! I have gone with Wickes in the end as I got a good deal. I will look for some local Neff/Siemens dealers too.

I've changed my mind slightly from a double oven, think I will get a separate oven and oven/microwave/grill as I really want a pyrolitic (spelt wrong?) oven, it is the only chance it has of ever being cleaned.
