Help! Delay opening Virgin CC and nearing end of 0%

Having first applied for a Virgin credit card about 4 weeks ago, my account has still not been opened. There were delays because of my bank account details not appearing on the credit search they did, so I had to order copies of those and send them to Virgin.

That was more than a week ago and I'm starting to get a bit anxious because my 0% stooze on my Egg card (which I want to BT to Virgin) runs out in 9 days! I can't get hold of Virgin now 'til Monday, when I shall phone them to see if I can hurry it along a bit. However, seeing as I've still got to sign a credit agreement presumably, I'm not holding out much hope!

Could anyone advise me what I should do? For example, should I pay off my Egg balance by other means (ie. instant access savings) before its 0% offer ends? If I did, would Virgin still eventually BT from Egg at a later date, even without a debt on it? (Thus putting my Egg into credit and allowing me to SBT that back out and top my savings back up.)

Alternatively, if I left my debt on the Egg card (which I don't think I will), will it just earn interest per day after the 0% ends, or would interest be whacked on it right back to the dates of the transactions?

I hope that makes sense!

Thanks
Waddle you do eh?

If you can pay off the Egg debt first. Do that, rather than incur interest charges. I don't know how the interest charges are worked out with Egg, as luckily I've avoided paying any.

Even if your Virgin Credit card comes through too late, you can always let the balance be transferred, creating a positive balance on Egg as you say.
Just check with other readers whether Virgin will bounce back the transfer
from where it came, as some companies appear to do.

Thanks for that Mary, I think that's what I'll do. Is anyone else aware whether or not the later balance transfer putting a positive balance on Egg would be a problem for Virgin or not?

    Cheers

It would not be a problem for Virgin as they wouldnt even know Egg would have a positive balance. :)
