I have vented in the past about their customer "support".

But yet again Orange cause me to vent. A while ago I received a txt about price increases, which I on the whole ignored as I rarely use the phone for data or calls. However, I am going on a trip soon and thought how useful it would be for the data in case I got lost, so I thought I would check what the prices are these days.

If you go here: http://shop.orange.co.uk/mobile-phones/plans/paygPlanList.jsp , and you was a Dolphin customer, and you topped up by £10, you'd expect 1GB of data wouldn't you?

Well no. Because that's only if you signed up to Dolphin when they stated that. If you signed up when I did, and it was 100MB, that's all you get, 100MB! Same name, many different prices I assume.

Funny though, because I got the benefit of the price increases they warned me about, just no better rewards :-)

Now to sort out, I could email them right? Of course not, they don't do emails for phones, apparently, just broadband. So I can either write a normal letter, sign up to twitter or Facebook, or phone some far eastern country who will probably reset my phone number because it's off script.

Why don't you ring them and ask to move to the new Dolphin Package? It's called "Dolphin2" on their systems.

Should take effect from next TopUp cycle...
I spent 25 years in the mobile industry, from 1994 to 2019. Worked for indies as well as the big networks, in their stores also in contact centres. I also hold a degree in telecoms engineering so I like to think I know what I’m talking about 😂

Because I refuse to talk to their foreign call centre, especially at my expense! (Although there is an 0800 number somewhere I know).

Not only this, a similar thing happened before where I was still paying £2/MB of data because I was on the "old Dolphin" plan - I got this sorted by talking to their online help and presumably their Newcastle staff; I am not quite sure how many Dolphins there are!

However, I have gone down the other available routes rather than spite myself.

I have an old thread around here, but basically every time I deal with them it's disastrous. Last time I went days without a phone and had to source numerous sim cards because their staff are the most incompetent staff I have known (this isn't necessarily a personal attack on their staff, I am sure they are just not trained).

Can you imagine you go into Tesco tomorrow and buy a pint of milk. And tomorrow you go for another bottle and find that milk is buy 1 get 1 free, but Tesco refuse you the free one because the first time you entered the store it wasn't? How the service companies get away with this is beyond me.

So why stay with them? I dumped them years ago. At one time their customer service was good, now it's the worst of any mobile company,

I do plan to go to Tesco Mobile at some point, however Orange's signal is more reliable here than those with O2/Tesco.
