Straight hair but want curls

Options
My hair's dead straight and very fine - about 4 inches below my shoulders. I'm thinking of getting a curling wand to see if I like it curly before getting a loose perm (last had a perm about 15 years ago). Any good recommendations? Also looking at the Babyliss Wave Envy - has anyone got one?

do you think your hair might curl with bendy foam stick rollers? You can get them in the poundshops, about 20 of them in one pack.

It might if I used a lot of mousse or whatever, but a wand is probably easier to use each morning and more controllable.

Agree with balletshoes, bendy rollers are ace! Much easier to use than curling wands and you can just put them in and do other stuff.

if you're going to use a curling wand for speed etc, I'd just get the cheapest one you can which heats up to 230 degrees (same as the optimum heat for straighteners) and go from there.

I've always had dead straight hair and cannot understand the appeal of these straighteners! :p

If not blown dry it just lies flat on my head!

  • me too - have curly hair & love it when my stylist straightens it after a cut but it doesn't last, even though she blow drys it straight then runs the straighteners over it by the evening the ends have already started to curl - had it chemically straightened by a different place a few years back but it ruined the condition so put up with it on a daily basis, too strong a curl for me to do, I'm pants with hair
