Insurance quotes with and without tracking box

I think I would have rather paid the extra £100 than have a big brother box monitoring my every movement.0

It's aimed at a very specific market - basically young inexperienced drivers. If you're not in that market they don't really want your business and won't quote at all, or you'll get an uncompetitive price. Last time I went shopping for insurance, not one of the black box insurers on the price comparison sites gave me a quote at all - a five grand quote just amounts to the same thing.
Also remember that the quote has to include the cost of the box, the cost of fitting it, and a share of the cost of the equipment to receive and keep track of your data. Unless you're in a high risk group and your premium is big to begin with, those costs will exceed any saving you make on the premium by driving like Miss Daisy. My current premium if £174 - I wouldn't be surprised if the base costs of the box were greater than that, or at least a sizeable chunk of it.0 -
not all accidents are speeding related. based on the posts here it seems a large number of accidents occur in supermarket car parks - a black box wont deter that.
though im not sure why the black box fitted cars are almost 5k more expensive. perhaps black box is seen by some insurers in the same way some lenders with payday loans on their credit file are seen, so they throw out a ridiculous quote to effectively price you out and turn down your business.0 -

Can you give and example of two stationary vehicles crashing?
No so at least one is driven at an inappropriate speed.0 -

by speeding i mean breaking the speed limit. there seems to be a new thread posted here every fornight of someone colliding with someone else in a supermarket car park at low speeds because they were not paying attention. how many people post "i was hit by a car doing 40 in a 20 zone".0
