Accord mortgages

Does anyone have a mortgage with a company called Accord, i have been looking at their website and get the impression that an individual cant apply for one of their mortgages and that you must apply via a broker. Is this true ?

Thats correct. Accord are part of Yorkshire building society.

If your situation is anything other than straight forward i would avoid accord like the plague unless your happy to provide war and peace and have a heart attack and/or go bald.

I have had an accord mortgage for 5 years and have just been given a DIP for the amount I wanted through accord at a good rate.
Mine is not straightforward as I am on a fixed term contract, although nothing else unusual. They asked for 3month bank statements, 3 month payslips, did a credit check and had DIP same day as broker applied.

Just waiting now for the actual mortgage, which as it turns out is for less than the DIP amount.

    3.09% 75% LTV 5 year fixed. 190,000 house.

They dont mind online accounts - however you would have to take them to a branch and get them stamped.

Thats not a great outlook is it?

If you had a leak would you never get it looked at because you dont know a plumber?

You could speak to a couple of brokers, see if you get on and trust them? Not only will you then get this deal, they can also look to see if they can find you a better deal AND do the work for you?

We started an application with Accord got an AIP then started looking elsewhere as they were asking for crazy bits of information. We have a second home that we let out and they wanted copies of every cheque that I have paid into the bank from a customer for the last 3 years-yeah like I have copies of them!:p My husband works in Norway, they wanted "Official Translations" whatever they are, of his P60 and to speak to someone who speaks English (everyone!) in his office.

We went with Barclays (woolwich), they were happy with a bank statement showing the cheques being deposited and accepted the P60 straight away.

Think they were looking for reasons not to lend to us despite us having no debt, a 100k+ income and a good deposit and only wanting to borrow 2.5 times income. Would avoid unless you want sleepless nights.

Maybe i spoke to soon about them moving smoothly. Now they are asking for more information that they didn't mention earlier like how long it takes us to get to work, and how we get there. Not sure why as I have already stated how much travel costs are including petrol.

Also asking for when partner will go back to work after maternity leave and what her pay will be, even though have told them that started mat leave in May, gets 6 months full pay and then back to work in december. No change in actual money received in bank.
Also now want bank account statement to show child benefit going into bank.

Also want a letter from partner, not anyone else, stating return date to work, salary details when returns to work, and anticipated childcare costs when this happens.

    This appears to be normal.

Once you send it, dont be surprised if they then ask for a letter from the company confirming return to work date (thats a little tongue in cheek but i wouldnt be surprised if they actually did ask).

I hope they don't as the company don't know what date other half is coming back. Won't deal with it until one month prior to return date:)
