Claiming PPI from an old mortgage

Options
In 2000 I had a mortgage with the bank of Scotland which I changed to the abbey national in 2001 due to better rates which I subsequently paid off with the sale of the house 4 yrs later (2004/5). as the later bank no longer exists in that name how do I go about trying to reclaim ppi from them ?? and would it be worth chasing the royal bank also for such a short space of time ?? many thanks :)

You don't reclaim PPI. If you have valid reasons of a mis-sale, you complain to whoever sold you the policy but complaints of MPPI mis-selling are very rarely upheld.

Did you even have PPI? What would your complaint be?
and would it be worth chasing the royal bank also for such a short space of time ?

You tell us. If you had it, you paid the monthly premium. How much did you pay?

Statistically, most MPPI complaints are rejected. It is the one PPI that is generally considered to be worth having. Hence you need stronger complaint reasons typically than loan or credit card PPI. You cant just ask for a refund. You need to have identified a wrong doing.

Well you wouldn't chase the "royal bank" for a mortgage with the "bank of Scotland", because the Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) is a different bank from the Bank of Scotland (BOS, later HBOS, and now a subsidiary of Lloyds).
