I wouldn't trust what one call centre person has said.

If I were you, I would make a backdated claim on an HC1 just so you know that at least from now on you are covered and able to legitimately tick the box on prescriptions, dental forms etc. And you may be successful in the backdating too.

If she is wrong and 10 months down the line you are found out and there is a demand for repayment you will have a bigger bill to pay.

She is wrong on 1 thing, ESA C only lasts 1 year for *some* people, for others it carries on for the life of their claim.

When I was awarded my CB ESA I was told it would be reviewed in one year's time so I guess I can get it for at least a year and then I may be switched over to IR ESA.

I was going to go in for the Low Income Scheme anyway and I have now sent off an HC1 form seeing as I meet the criteria for the scheme.

Until I get my Low Income thing sorted I will be going back to paying for my meds.

You have to be either on appeal or in WRAG for it to last just 1 year. If you are in Support Group it will last more than a year.

    cheers....

Get a receipt from the pharmacy concerned each time you pay and keep it along with a form FP57 that they need to complete each time you pay. Then you can claim back each £7.85 item once you get your card. You just take those back to same pharmacy and they will refund any monies paid out.

OK, a further update to end all this with.
I have today had another conversation, this time with the actual manager of the False Prescription Charge Exemption Claims team manager at the NHS Business Services Authority.
She has again said and confirmed via an e-mail (which I have saved and printed off for future reference in the event of anyone querying me) that I was fine to be claiming an exemption from prescription charges and that she is happy for me to continue to do so until I have received my Low Income Certificate from the NHS, which I sent off for this afternoon, and which would thus render me exempt from paying for my meds.

In short, nothing to worry over, I was fine to do what I did and I have now had it all written down and confirmed from the horses mouth.

    :)

Glad you've got it all sorted OP, I know how awful it is to live with Depression and Anxiety and can imagine how this worry has made your illness worse.
