  • Joined a gym! A cheap gym! :j

This may seem non MSE but considering I nearly joined a gym that was £70 a month and picked the £15.99 a month one instead, this is very good for me! And the gym is good for me. Will definitely keep the afterwork wine out of my hand and out of my bank balance! And I googled a voucher to get £10 off the joining fee.

OH is away for three days now with work, which means I will be much less tempted to spend on frivolous (although fun) things.

Will be back later to give a proper update (and confess a few naughty spends :o)

Have a lovely day everyone x

I think just the fact that you made an alternate choice with the gym is quite MSE, you chose the cheaper option. Good going.
  • Thank you roxy! :)

I was really quite smug when I went into the gym today - knowing the monthly fee isn't a huge part of the monthly budget!

Did a payment to the CC today for 34p. I know its not a mega amount by any means, but its something!

Have had a really exhausting day all round and tomorrow isn't going to be much better.

Taking my brother to the airport for 6am - house viewing at 9.15am - work all day - gym after work - tidy away more bags (mums starting to get a little angry with all our bags taking over her spare room - bed!

Better get off to bed now, night MSE folk x

  • Not feeling at all positive about this debt business today, but I know it needs to be done.

Went to the supermarket after work, ended up spending £3.64 on cereal bars (breakfast for work) 2 bread rolls (lunch for work for tomorrow and Friday) and some reduced pork - only 99p!! Thought the pork would be for my dinner tonight but my mum had made a tasty dinner so pork can wait until tomorrow!

Also put £10 petrol in the car. Worked out its actually cheaper for me to drive to work than to get the bus, and its something i am having a dilemma about. I hate to abuse the environment when there is a perfectly good bus route, but in pretty sure I will save a good £30 a month (at least!) if i drive.

    So todays totals:
    £3.64 - food
    £10 - petrol
-£4 - saved on bus fare
    Total - £9.64 spend

Not bad for a petrol day and considering the food will last me until the weekend.

going to work out petrol vs bus dilemma now.. Night all x

  • Yes so my car journey is costing me approx £2.50 per day which is a £30 saving a month. This saving increases significantly as OH will start same time as me so will save on his travel costs too. Hmmm.. Dilemma continues!

I don't think there is one.
If you are saving money & two in the car at least one way then win win in my book.

  • Yeh I think you are right BL. And this will only be until we move closer to town and therefore walking distance to work. Just the environmental impact makes me feel a bit bad. Oh well. Will only be until this debt is cleared.

Bit annoyed yesterday as forgot breakfast so had to but on my way to work! Only a cereal bar and banana so cost £1.34. Still annoying though.

Made another lame overpayment of £1.05 to cc today. My theory is as I don't have much time to earn extra money this week I'm saving on my day to day spend and so using that money for overpayments.

We were super sensible yesterday though. Met OH after work as he had just got back from his business trip and he bought us both a drink. We were debating what to have for dinner and options from eating out to supermarket buying were on the table. Then we decided we would eat what's at home. So head down, straight home we went. And made a lovely ( albeit random) salad to use up what was there. And not a penny spent! Very happy with that!

  • Feel like my head is going to explode today. Been doing nothing but think about my money situation and what to do about my bad credit rating.

On the plus side, we've found a house :T:T
It is absolutely lovely and in a lovely area too. It is part furnished so only need to get a bed for the spare room and another sofa. I've been on Freecycle and Gumtree already hunting these down.

We don't move for another five weeks so really have to keep my head down and save as much as possible until we move as the rent, deposit and letting fees are all pretty high.

Also, our landlord has replied! Hoorah! He said the flat looked fine and there will only be a cleaning fee. This is really good as we really didn't expect to see that money again.

It will go straight towards the deposit on this place (although it will only account for about 40% of it.. living up north really is SO much cheaper).

Other than that, not much to report. Haven't spent any money today which is good.

Was meant to tidy the house today, which I totally haven't done yet, so better get going before mum gets back from work. I feel like a kid again with a list of chores! :rotfl:
