JSA and part time work

My partner is claiming income related JSA and we also receive child tax credits. He is likely to be offered 8 hours work per week tomorrow. The job is likely to be minimum wage or just above.
I have looked online to see how this would affect JSA but unable to find any up to date advice. From what I gather he can work up to 16 hours and still sign on but will he get a deduction from his JSA? I can only seem to find reference to old £15 or £20 limits. Can anybody help please?
If I managed to find part time work would our hours be added together, would the limit then be 24 hours as in WTC?
Any advice/info appreciated.
Background info if needed
My partner made redundant about a year ago.
Claiming JSA about 6 months, income related so could change to contribution based if this made a difference.
I am currently unemployed

DWP will disregard the 1st £10 earned for part time work so if he works 8 hours at £6.19 (NMW) = £49.52 - they will deduct £39.52 from your joint JSA claim. The same applies to housing benefit. And yes he can work up to 16 hours and still sign on. How old are your children? If below 5 there is no conditionality for you to find work as only one needs to seek work. However where children are a little older and going to school then it is up to you to find a job if you can for say during school hours. Not easy these days I know.0

Note you cannot change to Contributions based benefit. If you are entitled to it, it will be paid for the relevant period then can convert to income based if appropriate once it is exhausted.
You many get an income based top up if the assessed amount is more then the CB amount, but it will still be an CB claim until it is exhausted.0 -

Thank you, so penny for penny deducted after £10.
My youngest turned 6 last month and they have mentioned if he doesn't find work eventually I will have to go in for JSA sign on/interviews. (I am looking anyway)
We don't claim housing benefit as we were in the lucky position of paying off our small mortgage with an inheritance not long before he was made redundant, but I will need to tell the council tax benefit office.Adereterial wrote: »Note you cannot change to Contributions based benefit. He should be entitled to 6 month contribution based JSA as until may 2012 he had worked full time for 36+ years. He did not use this up as they put him on income related JSA immediately so he could claim as a couple. However I didn't think it would probably make any difference.0 -

I'm pretty sure that the 6 months contribution based JSA runs from the date of claim with the Income Based element for the couple on top so he will have already exhausted his contribution based entitlement.0 -

Quite probably then. I didn't see the paperwork, my OH just said at the time they put him on income related so he could claim as a couple.0 -
