Metro Bank and Standing Orders

I was just wondering if anyone knew if there was any issue with Metro bank and standing orders/direct debits not going through?

I loaned a friend some money and she says she set up a standing order to pay me back in installments with the first payment due on 28th July.

However the payment never arrived and she said that Metro Bank were useless and some of her other standing orders had failed. She said the bank told her it would go through on Friday 2nd July which as of yet there is nothing showing in my account.

I guess I'm wondering if Metro Bank are indeed useless or she's just fobbing me off and giving me the run around because she doesn't have it.

I have read articles online about problems with online banking, but nothing about standing orders not working, metrobank sometimes takes a few hours - but normally arrives the same day..
If there were insufficient funds in the account on the day the standing order was due and no overdraft arrangement existed the bank would not pay the standing order.

Hmmm....

I've just done a faster payment from my barclays account to my metro bank account (I use it just for small spends, it's handy for contactless payments for coffee' lunch, that sort of thing, and isn't linked to any other of my accounts....paranoid, moi? )

It was half an hour ago, and still nothing showing in metrobank, so I'm thinking there must be an issue somewhere in their system!

Can take up to two hours in my experience.
