Can anyone explain to this old pensioner about photos and the i cloud please?
I take all my photographs on my i phone 4.
On my phone there seem to be two (identical?) sets of photographs. An Album and Photo Stream. Why?
I have recently purchased a mini I pad and the photographs have now appeared on there too. If i start taking pictures with my ipad will they appear on my iphone?
However I cannot find any of my photos on my pc. If they are being transferred to my ipad automatically why aren't they going to my pc? Should they be in my i tunes?
I would like to store my photographs on my pc and empty my phone to free up space.
Please don't explain in too technical terms. Thanks.

As long as your apple devices (i.e. iphone 4, iPad, etc) are using the same iCloud account (i.e. the same Apple ID) AND YOU HAVE SYNCED THEM (i.e. you have turned on the relevant settings/preferences in the appropriate apps and general settings of each device) then they will all sync when you take photos on one device - So if you take a picture on your iphone 4 it will go into the cloud (onto Apple's computer and inside your specific icloud folder) where it will then be transferred (synchronised) onto each other device in your collection.
The reason the photo will not be transferred onto you pc yet is because you have to set up photo stream (iCloud) on your pc by downloading the PC iCloud app (program) - http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1455?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US
Folders on the iPad
Camera Roll on the ipad is a dedicated folder that stores all the photos (and videos) you have taken with the iPad.
Photo Stream on the iPad (and pc) is a dedicated folder for photos that have been synced from elsewhere (i.e. from your pc, iPad, iphone etc). These are not deletable directly from the ipad if they originate from your pc for example.
Photos is a dedicated folder for your own photo folders for example, that you create on the iPad, that can also include photos from the camera roll folder and photo stream folder.
On the iPad (and iPhone) go to the SETTINGS app and then tap on the ICLOUD option. Make sure the setting called PHOTO STREAM is switched on.
On the PC make sure, once you have installed the icloud program above, that its photo stream etc settings are switched on.0
