                    Hi,
My daughter received a letter from Talk Talk a few months ago advising that Talk Talk were changing her landline and broadband from BT to Talk Talk. The letter advised that she was to call them before the 31st July if she did not wish for this to go ahead. She called Talk Talk immediately and advised them that under no circumstances has this to happen.
My daughter has never applied for a Talk Talk account.
Yesterday morning her broadband was cut off and two Talk Talk engineers appeared at her home to make the necessary changes to from BT to broadband. My daughter explained the situation and would not allow the engineers entry.
My daughter has been in contact with BT to find out what is going on and a "Manager" has advised that he will call her back within with a resolution to this.
My biggest concerns here are:
My daughter has never signed for for Talk Talk, and they have managed to get all of personal details from somewhere. How have they managed to get these details? Surely this is breach of DPA, as she has never advised BT that she was switiching.
BT have never contacted my daughter on this.
BT have cut the broadband and phone line without letting her know.
Why was there absolutely no correspondence from BT regarding the closing of the Account etc?
I now have a nine month pregnant woman at home with no landline, waiting for this to be resolved.
Has anyone had any experience of this, or know of anyone who has?
This seems very strange.
Thanks,
John.

I can't see how the pregnancy is affected - mobile telephone or in an emergency ask the neighbours to use their phone?

Anyway, there must have been a request to Talktalk to move their services, or a mistake at their end. It is not BT who will have done this - the request is made to move the services away from the losing provider.
The first BT will have known is when it shows up on their report that Talktalk are taking the line.0 -
I have contacted Talk Talk and they have advised that they can only talk to the Account Holder. However, the Account Holder's name is not my daughter's, and they will not tell us the Account Holder's name due to DPA.
It looks to me like the have got the address/landline numbers mixed up and changed this on someone else's request.
How do we resolve this as they won't speak to us, as we are not the Account Holder?
Total nightmare!!0 -
Have you tried contacting them through their members forums? https://www.talktalkmembers.com
It's not an immediate response, can take a couple of days but they may be able to point you in the right direction.
If not, try contacting BT and explain that you have been "slammed" and you would like your services resumed with them immediately. They may be able to expedite your order.Have I helped? Feel free to click the 'Thanks' button. I like to feel useful (and smug).
