Possible incitement to commit fraud

I had a call yesterday from a PPI Claim chaser about "a personal loan which I took out in April 2004". When I pleaded ignorance of such a loan, the man quickly rang off.

Are these companies now fishing for bogus claims?
You never know how far you can go until you go too far.

Most likely out to scam you. They will probably tell you that you are owed thousands but you have to pay them a percentage up front.

    Yes.

The banks and financial companies are reporting that over half the PPI complaints they get now dont have PPI. Yet the letters sent in (typically template) make all sorts of allegations on them.

No-one comes out of PPI smelling of roses. Banks did wrong. Regulator didnt know what it was doing and created the problem. Consumers putting in fraudulent complaints as they smell compensation. Claims companies cold calling and telling lies to get sign up bonuses.
