Made to measure blinds

Hiya
I know. I'm an idiot. I ordered made-to-measure blinds off the tinternet and the web site specifically says that made-to-measure products cannot be returned under any circumstances.
They have turned up and they are made with such cheap and rubbish material that you can almost see through them. I didn't expect them to be black out blinds but I did expect them to be opaque!!
Surely even though they are made-to-measure - they still have to be "fit for purpose" dont they?

For you blinds may be about blocking light but for others they will be about obscuring a view or decoration - just because they don't block as much light as you would like doesn't mean they aren't 'fit for purpose'.
You should go back to the website and carefully check the product description - if it makes claims about blocking out light or about the quality of the materials being used that does not measure up to what you received they you could reject the product under the Sale of Goods Act.Common sense?...There's nothing common about sense!0 -
Was there an option to send off for samples to see the material before ordering?Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
browneyedbazzi - They say that they dont use "cheap or unreliable materials" but that's all. I suppose its difficult to quantify "cheap" but these are so thin that you can see the outline of objects behind them - like greaseproof paper.
pinkshoes - not that I saw when I was ordering them - but deep down in tiny print in the terms and conditions that I was checking this morning - there is.
Live and learn I suppose.0 -

Hmm, I guess they would argue that you could have asked for a (free?) sample before ordering. ..
I'd perhaps try speaking to them and see what they say.
Were they expensive?Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
